Mr. Lawrence Edwin Phillips, 71, of Albany, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, December 19, 2016.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Liberty Parkway Church of God. Rev. Allen Bingham will officiate and interment will follow at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Virginia.
Born October 18, 1945 in Dante, VA, Mr. Phillips was the son of the late Tivis M. and Julie Dishman Phillips. He worked as a truck driver for many years and drove an ice cream truck. Mr. Phillips along with his wife have been faithful members of Liberty Parkway Church of God for many years. One of the highlights of his life was the Eighth Avenue Church of God bus ministry that they so loved. Mr. Phillips was healed of Leukemia twice in 1979 and 1983. He was a true testimony of the faithfulness of God’s healing touch and he shared this with everyone. He enjoyed working in his yard and greenhouses.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Judy Calhoun Phillips of Albany; son, Lawrence D. Phillips of Navarre, OH; daughters, Angel Erickson of Albany, Misty Schmidt (Norman) of Albany, Amber Charlton of Sylvester and Micaih Ruiz (Luis) of Atlanta; brother, Ardie Phillips (Betty) of Dante, VA; sisters, Loretta Salyers of Dante, VA and Belva Hall of Massillon, OH; 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
